Chronicaling the lunacy of taming three acres in Tidewater Virginia, one square foot at a time!

"Gardens... should be like lovely, well-shaped girls: all curves, secret corners, unexpected deviations, seductive surprises and then still more curves. ~H.E. Bates, A Love of Flowers

A Day in the Refuge

Started in September 2009, the restoration of the Bodie Light is well under way! Read more here: http://www.nps.gov/caha/parknews/bodie-island-lighthouse-restoration-progress-report.htm
Further into the Hatteras Seashore is another favorite place, the Pea Island Refuge...I love to see what birds are hanging out. Today a whole flock of red winged blackbirds were perched on the tops of various plants...a long wait if they were looking for bugs...too cold and windy.

The Ibis were flying to and fro without any visible purpose...

The snow geese in a lather over something!
