Chronicaling the lunacy of taming three acres in Tidewater Virginia, one square foot at a time!

"Gardens... should be like lovely, well-shaped girls: all curves, secret corners, unexpected deviations, seductive surprises and then still more curves. ~H.E. Bates, A Love of Flowers

The Eaglet Has Fallen!

People that actually live in the Tidewater may know that Norfolk Botanical Garden has a nest of three eaglets. I found this story a few moments ago in The Virginian-Pilot...one of the eaglets took a header out of the nest!

According to the story, eaglets prepare for flight by "fly-hopping" across the nest. One of the three overshot his mark, fell to the ground and is uninjured. To gain perspective on just how far of a fall that is, here are some pics I took in late April at the garden.
